How to Remove Line Breaks From Text for Forms, Sheets, and Email
Line breaks are useful until they end up in the wrong place. Text copied from PDFs, chat exports, spreadsheets, or notes apps often arrives with broken lines that make forms messy, emails harder to read, or spreadsheet cells unusable. In those cases, you need to join the lines cleanly instead of editing them one by one.

When to remove line breaks
This is most useful when text needs to fit into a single field, a spreadsheet cell, a CMS input, or a clean paragraph block. It is also helpful when a copied passage breaks after every short line because it came from a PDF or narrow mobile layout.
Use /text-tools/remove-line-breaks to join the content with a space or another separator. If the text also contains spacing junk, finish with /text-tools/remove-extra-spaces for a cleaner final pass.
Simple workflow
- Step 1: Paste the text into /text-tools/remove-line-breaks.
- Step 2: Choose how the lines should be joined, such as with spaces or a custom separator.
- Step 3: Run the cleanup and review the result as one continuous paragraph or field value.
- Step 4: If spacing still looks uneven, pass the result through /text-tools/remove-extra-spaces.
- Step 5: Paste the cleaned output into your form, spreadsheet, email, or CMS.
Common use cases
- Cleaning copied text before pasting into website fields.
- Preparing descriptions for spreadsheets or CSV imports.
- Fixing resume or cover-letter text before online submission.
- Joining broken paragraphs copied from PDFs.
- Turning multi-line notes into a clean email or message draft.
What not to flatten blindly
Do not remove line breaks if the original structure is important, such as poetry, addresses, code snippets, or carefully formatted lists. In those cases, line breaks carry meaning and should be preserved.
This tool is best when the line breaks are accidental, not intentional.
Best practice checklist
- Use a space separator for normal paragraph text.
- Keep intentional structure intact when formatting matters.
- Clean spacing after line-break removal if needed.
- Review the final output in the destination field before submitting.
- Save the original text first if you may need the structured version later.
